19-Year-Old Killed in Single-Vehicle Rollover Near Hulett
A Wyoming man is dead following a single-vehicle rollover crash last week in Crook County.
Dylan Humes, 19, was traveling southwest on New Haven Road at roughly 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, when his vehicle rolled near milepost 18.
According to the Crook County Sheriff's Office, which submitted a crash report to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Humes evidently made a steering correction to the left, causing his pickup to skid to the left.
The skid continued for some 121 feet before the pickup spun clockwise, traveled another 90 feet and exited the roadway to the northwest. The pickup then vaulted and overturned for about 107 feet.
In total, the pickup rolled two and a half times. Humes, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle.
According to the crash report, texting while driving is listed as a possible contributing factor.
The roadway was dry at the time of the crash, though investigators do not know what the weather conditions were like.
