4A West Regional Wrestling Results-(VIDEO)

Over the weekend, Regional Wresting took place all around the State.  I happened to be in Riverton for the 4A West Regionals where both Casper Natrona County Mustangs & Kelly Walsh Trojans were battling for the Title of 4A West Champions.

While in Riverton, we were under the impression that Riverton had claimed that title over Natrona by only one point.  After further review, it was at first, the other way around with Natrona over Riverton by one, but ultimately it was Natrona by 4 points.

There were some very exciting matches and some upsets as well.  One of those upsets happened to be my son Keegan Berry, a freshman varsity wrestler for Natrona County Mustangs at 120 pounds.  In the Championship Semifinals, Keegan came up against a varsity wrestler from Riverton, Gavin Wilson a junior, who was ranked number one .  Keegan had wrestled him about 5 times throughout the season and had some up short every time.  After round 2, the score was 12-1, Wilson.  Keegan knew he had to do something, and something he did!   See for yourself:

It doesn't get much more exciting than that!!!!!  Keegan ended up 2nd overall, very impressive for anyone, especially a Freshman!

My son Bridger, a varsity wrestler at 195 for Natrona(although he's lucky if he weighs in at 180),  also had a couple exciting matches.  He came up against the number one ranked James Sedey of Rock Springs, also in the Championship Semifinals.  The match was very even throughout all three periods.  Bridger ended up losing by only one point, always a heart breaker! His 3rd and 4th place match was also a close one, with Bridger falling short by two points.   Bridger ended up 4th overall.
