There's a new study that proves one thing:  No matter how you choose to interact with women (whether you're a misogynist pig or a chivalrous gentleman), you, are completely and totally sexist.

This new study comes from the researchers at Northeastern University in Boston and they found that guys who do nice things (like hold and opening doors) for women are actually just as sexist as they guys who treat women terribly (do you really need an example?).  The only difference the study shows, is that the nice guys might be even worse, because they don't realize how sexist they've become.

It's called "benevolent sexism," and it happens when you open a car door for a woman, refuse to let her pay on a date, offer her your jacket when she's cold, tell her you want to take care of her, or tell her she deserves to be put on a pedestal.

"Benevolent sexist men hold women in high regard and are willing to sacrifice themselves to save and protect women.

However, benevolent sexist men perceive women as the weaker gender at the same time."  -  Jin Goh, Northeastern University Researcher

They say that the combo of benevolent sexism and more blatant and hostile sexism are what keep gender inequality alive in our society.

Does this mean men should stop trying to be courteous?  Or is it just more reinforcement that no matter what we try, everything guys do is almost always wrong?
