When the final buzzer rang out, and the final bead of sweat dripped down their foreheads, the NC Mustangs left their hearts on the court. They lost to the Gillette Camels in an excellent game, but they won the hearts of the fans in attendance. Both teams played their respective hearts out, with each player looking to make an impression on each other.
Just when Casper couldn't impress me anymore, they go and do it again by setting the world record for the largest potluck...ever! On February 26, 2012 980 people prepared and served 861 dishes, beating out the previous record of 808.
I'm reminded of how proud I am of my town, and the people that live in it, when I witness events like Bowl For Jason's Friends. People from all over Casper offer their time, money, and mad bowling skills to the Jason's Friends Foundation, an organization created to help families financially, and emotionally, when they have a sick child.
Teams from all across Wyoming ventured into Casper to fight like the gladiators that they are while wearing extremely tight-fitting spandex.
KW and NC fans gathered in droves to witness the Peach Basket, and these pictures are but a glimpse into the mass of humanity that gathered at the T-Bird Gym on Thursday.
If there is one way to combat the cold that comes with Winter winds, it's by downing over 40 different kinds of chili at the 2012 API Chili Cookoff. Vendors came, saw, and attempted to conquer each other's chili recipe and we the public were able to sample the best chili from all over. The contest was between the vendors, but we were the real winners. Check out these pictures from the event!
What better way to spend a brisk February morning than by jumping into a freezing swimming pool to raise money for Special Olympics Wyoming?
With the contest over, and the winners selected, there was only one thing left to do in the 'Shot Through The Heart' contest: Shoot things. And that's exactly what these three beautiful-yet-bitter young women did. As the cocked their guns and focused on their memories, one could almost feel the vindication being released as the bullet fired from the numerous firearms.
Thankful Thursdays is now back in full force and the latest charity that has benefitted from TT is the Jason's Friends Foundation. Bar-goers came out in droves to drink cheap alcohol and learn just what the Jason's Friends Foundation is all about. As these pictures prove, Thankful Thursday, like every week, was a success.
Season 2 of Thankful Thursdays at The Beacon are upon us, and we couldn't think of a better organization to re-start us than the Children's Advocacy Project (CAP). This organization is a fairly new, non-profit agency that specializes in services provided for children who are victims of maltreatment and children who are witnesses to violence. The first Thankful Thursday of the new season was a roaring success, as these pics prove!
It’s official – Stuff The Van #14 is a wrap, and was one of the best years we’ve had in the event’s history. We just got word from our partners at Wyoming Food Bank Of The Rockies, that after everything was sorted, counted, and distributed at their warehouse – just over 3,500 Casper children will be served this Christmas, thanks to your generosity.
