According to a new Zippia study, Wyoming has two of the 50 "happiest towns in America".

Ranchettes, a census designated place just north of Cheyenne, was ranked as the 36th happiest small town in the country.

Bar Nunn, a Casper suburb that was famously built on the runways of the old Wardwell Airport, finished in 41st place.

Over 3,500 small towns across the country were studied. Each town had a population between 2,000 and 10,000 people.

The rankings were based on a variety of factors, including employment rates, income, education, cost of living, crime, commute times and home values.

Frontenac, Missouri, popuation 3,512, was ranked as the happiest small town in the nation.

Montana City, Montana, a suburb of Helena with a population of 2,715, was the top ranked town in the mountain west region, in 7th place.
