Saturday was a miserable day for travel in and around Casper, but that didn't deter hundreds of bowlers from showing up and having a great time at the annual Bowl for Jason's Friends fundraiser at El-Mark-O lanes.

Together the bowlers and sponsors helped raise over $300,000 to help families with children affected by cancer.

During the bowling activities, I got word of a remarkable young man who's team couldn't make it to the event from Cody due to weather and road conditions.  So a friend of mine (Tyler Cordell) and I grabbed some shoes and joined him.

Meet Phillip Robertson, he and his family attended the event and had a great time bowling and helping families in need.  Phillip is a student at Park Elementary here in Casper and helped out by raising $231 for the Jason's Friends Foundation.

Even though his team couldn't make it, Phillip was undaunted and showed up to have some fun and we did.  Phillip shared his fundraising experience with me and we shared high fives for good frames as well as shared support for frames that weren't so good.

It's refreshing to meet young people like Phillip, who want to help charities and care down deep about like causes.  Phillip was a huge insiration to me as well as Tyler and it was an experience I for one, will always remember.

Thanks Phillip!  It's great to have you as a friend of mine!!

Here was the post his family put up on Facebook following the event.
