Ki-Ki Moore hit the game-winning jumper with 2.5 seconds left to lift the Fresno State Bulldogs past the Wyoming Cowgirls 63-62 in the semifinals of the 2013 Reese's Mountain West Basketball Championships in Las Vegas Friday afternoon. Chelan Landry's desperation heave from three-quarter court just missed off to the right. The heart-breaking loss means UW has to wait to find out its' post-season fate on Monday night.

“There were times tonight where this group showed their resiliency to keep fighting back, being down eight, ten points, even with four minutes to go,” said Cowgirl head coach Joe Legerski. “We talked about being down six and you need to believe. They came out and played at a very high level, gave themselves a chance.  That’s all you can ask as a coach. Last night in the game against Colorado State, we made one play and had the ball bounce our way. Tonight you give credit to Fresno State. They made one more play and we just came up so very short. Very close, but it comes down to a number of execution plays and that you have to make sure that each and every one makes a difference, whether it’s in the first minute of the game or the last minute of the game. But I’m very proud of this team, what they’ve been able to accomplish, and how they continue to battle throughout a 40 minute basketball game.”

Wyoming (24-7) took the lead with 13 seconds left on a Kayla Woodward jumper. She finished with a game-high 22 points and 9 rebounds for the Cowgirls. Out of a time-out, Fresno State got the ball to Moore, who drove and hit the winning basket.

The Cowgirls fought back from a 10-point first half deficit and a 9-point deficit with just over  eight minutes left in the contest. Chaundra Sewell scored nine points in a key 14-6 run that pulled UW within 61-60 with just under a minute remaining. All that led to the Woodward basket, and then Moore's heroics at the end.

Sewell finished with 18 points and also snagged 9 boards. UW shot 24-51 (47.1%) from the field, 4-12 (33.3%) from deep and 10-12 (83.3%) at the line. The Cowgirls out-rebounded Fresno State 38-30, but also ended with 21 turnovers.

After Moore, the Bulldogs got 17 points from Taylor Thompson and 11 from Bree Farley. Fresno State (23-8) was 24-64 (37.5%) on field goals, 4-17 (23.5%) and 11-14 (78.6%) at the charity stripe. They had 14 steals, which included 5 by Moore, the Defensive Player of the Year in the MW, and only 10 turnovers.

The Cowgirls are in line for a post-season bid and will find out exactly when, where and who they will play on Monday night.
