The Casper College Agriculture Department is hosting its 34th Annual Lamb and Pig Sale on Saturday, April 12 at 1:30 p.m. in the Casper College Grace Werner Agriculture Pavilion on the Casper College campus. Viewing of the animals up for sale will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Heath Hornecker, Casper College agriculture instructor said,

“This is a great chance for kids to buy a high quality pig or lamb for show purposes,These are young animals that will be raised for 4-H and FFA projects. Folks buy these animals and then feed them to their optimal weight. Last year a lamb purchased at the sale by Rachel Emery from the DeLong/Kawcak Club Lambs took the Grand Champion Market Lamb award at the Natrona County Fair and Rodeo,”

With 30 to 35 lambs and 60 to 70 pigs up for sale at the auction, selection will be good. Consignors attending the auction come from Wyoming, Colorado, and Montana. Pig consignors scheduled to attend are: Burkett Show Pigs, Black Show Pigs, and Custis Show Pigs, all from Wyoming; and S&D Show Pigs from Nebraska.
Lamb consignors scheduled to attend are: Hornecker Club Lambs, Double D Ranch, Griffiths Club Lambs, Meyers Club Lambs, and Carlisle Club Lambs all from Wyoming; DeLong/Kawcak Club Lambs from Colorado; and Crazy H Club Lambs from Montana.

The auction is used as a learning experience for the Casper College Agriculture Club members, who are responsible for the set-up and handling of the event. Proceeds from the auction will go to the club to help with general and travel expenses, and the Jeff Stafford Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to Casper College agriculture majors.
