CASPER, WY – The Casper Cutthroats Baseball Club has announced they will have six players returning from their inaugural roster of last season.  Four position players return: 3B; Blake Coffman, SS/2B; Kendall Fay, C; Thomas Lundborg and OF; Austin Rue.  As well as two pitchers: Josh Freeman and Matt Lefler.

“We are thrilled to have these six young men back with us this season,” said Aaron McCreight, Cutthroats Owner/General Manager.  “This says a lot about our organization and community as a whole when you have players, who could play anywhere they want, chose to not only play in Casper once, but to return for a second season.  Our fans and all of Casper should take this as a great compliment.”

Coffman, a sophomore at Williams Baptist College in Arkansas, hit .324 with the Cutthroats last season.  He also ranked second on the team with 28 walks while only striking out an amazingly low two times.

Fay, a junior also at Williams Baptist College, hit .320 last year adding two homeruns and five stolen bases.  He also added four and a third innings on the mound, earning a victory and finishing with a perfect 0.00 ERA.

Lundborg, a junior at the University of North Alabama, finished last regular season with a .282 average.  The left-handed hitting catcher was the vocal leader of the team last season.

Rue, a senior at Montana State University-Billings, finished the year with a .368 average after hitting an unbelievable .476 in the month of July to help carry the Cutthroats to the Mountain Collegiate Baseball League playoffs.  He also set two MCBL records with 56 runs scored and 22 stolen bases.

Freeman, a sophomore at Alabama A&M University, began the season as the Cutthroats closer, earning a league-leading six saves, before ending the year as the club’s ace.  He finished second on the team with five wins and 62.1 innings pitched while leading the staff with a 4.91 ERA.

Lefler, a sophomore at East Texas Baptist University, worked exclusively out of the bullpen last season.  He ranked fourth on the pitching staff with 13 appearances, finishing with a 1-2 record with 16 strikeouts.
