Casper police took one person into custody Tuesday morning after a shooting took place inside a home in north Casper.

Sgt. Mike Ogden said no injuries have been reported, and the area is safe. Ogden said there is no threat to the public in connection with the incident.

Police dispatch received a report of a disturbance at the home, located in the 1200 block of Elma, at roughly 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Ogden said the shooting took place inside the home.

Officers responded and, as they arrived, the suspect attempted to flee on foot. He was taken into police custody, though Ogden said the suspect was not under arrest as of 10 a.m.

Ogden described the suspect as a male in his thirties. The weapon used was likely a handgun, Ogden said. He declined to name the suspect.

A criminal investigation into the incident is underway. It was not immediately clear what charges, if any, the suspect may face.

Police officers remained at the scene this morning, and Ogden said officers will maintain a presence in the area.

Ogden specified that no police officers discharged their firearms in connection with the incident.

Anyone with further information on the incident is asked to call the Casper Police Department at 235-8278.
