A traffic stop led to the arrest of an allegedly intoxicated woman who was driving with two children and a container of marijuana in her car on Tuesday.

Sarah Vanessa Campbell, 23, was booked into jail on recommended charges of possession of marijuana and two counts of driving under the influence with child endangerment. She will likely make her initial appearance in Natrona County Circuit Court at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Charging documents say an officer was on patrol in the area of East Yellowstone Highway and Burlington at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when he saw a car without a registration light turn onto Burlington from Beverly Street.

The officer stopped the vehicle and found Campbell -- the driver -- along with two children inside the car.

As he spoke with Campbell, the officer could allegedly smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage, as well as the odor of marijuana.

The officer asked Campbell to step out of the car and perform standardized field sobriety tests. Campbell agreed, saying she was having anxiety issues and reportedly becoming nervous.

Campbell allegedly did not complete all the tests, and allegedly performed poorly on those she did complete.

Due to the "strong" smell of marijuana, the officer searched Campbell's car and allegedly found a glass marijuana pipe which was still hot, along with a white dispensary container of marijuana from Colorado. The marijuana weighed 1.71 grams, according to court documents.

A bottle of undisclosed prescription pills was also found in Campbell's purse. Her blood-alcohol content as indicated by a portable breath test was .234, according to a police affidavit.

The Wyoming Department of Family Services took protective custody of the children. Campbell was arrested and taken to jail.

The children were eventually released to their father.
