In its efforts to better connect with the community, the Casper Police Department will start conducting briefings of its mobile patrol team at different locations in the city, Interim Chief Steve Schulz said in a news release on Wednesday.

The department holds these normal shift turnover briefs at 6:50 a.m. and 6:50 p.m. daily at the department and wants to extend them as Community Team Briefs.

"I’m excited to initiate Community Team Briefs within our community to further strengthen the tremendous relationships we have with our citizens," Schulz said in a prepared statement. "We know that our community is a safer, more secure community when we all work together."

The department encourages the public to attend the free events.

Officers, sergeants, and members of the command staff will be available following the Community Team Briefs to talk with people.

The first one is scheduled at the Metro Coffee Company, 241 S. David St., at 6:50 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4.

This Community Team Brief also coincides with National Coffee With A Cop Day.

If you are interested in hosting a Community Team Brief at your residence or business,  contact Detective John Hatcher at 307-235-7598 or at jhatcher@casperwy.gov.
