Casper police continue to investigate after finding a body in a ditch near the intersection of Second and Beverly Streets on Tuesday.

Police officers responded to the 200 block of South Minnesota Avenue after someone reported a suspicious odor at 6:38 p.m. Sgt. Joey Wilhelm told reporters on Wednesday that the body had apparently been in the ditch for some time.

The body is male, but Wilhelm could not provide further identifying information. He said there was no obvious cause of death at the scene on Tuesday.

It's not a homicide investigation at this point, but Wilhelm said investigators are not ruling anything out.

Wilhelm said the Natrona County Coroner's Office has the body and will perform an autopsy.
