The Casper Recreation Center has been remodeling various spaces to maximize leisure experiences for the community. The Fitness Room, Strength Training Room, Indoor Park, Sage Studio, River Room and Desert Room will re-open to the public on Saturday, January 16.

The public is invited to come to the Casper Recreation Center, free of charge, Saturday, January 16 from 10:00 am-2:00 pm for tours, refreshments, door prizes, free sample classes and program demonstrations. The gym is available after 2:00 pm for drop-in use. Prior to 2:00 pm, the gym is busy with Casper After School Program for Education and Recreation (C.A.S.P.E.R.) boys’ basketball games. The community is welcome to tour other facilities available through the Recreation Division such as the Casper Family Aquatic Center and the Casper Ice Arena as well, however, applicable admission fees apply to those wishing to use services within those areas.

There are a variety of activities that take place throughout the year at the Casper Recreation Center including opportunities to participate in a variety of drop-in sports such as table tennis, volleyball, basketball, and Pickleball. Organized sports league play for adults and youth in basketball and volleyball remain popular. Arts and crafts, fitness and self-improvement programs, dance and physical activities such as TaeKwon-Do, fencing, and gymnastics begin the list of the variety of classes that are also offered.

During the Open House on January 16, members of the community may choose to sample one or more of the following classes:

10:00 am Pre-School Dance for 3 & 4 year olds

10:30 am Beg Ballet for 5-12 year olds

11:00 am Adult Ballet or Finger Crochet

12:00 pm Beginning Clogging or Finger Crochet

Additionally, there will be pottery demos by instructor Brandon Bassett from 10:00-11:00 am, painting demonstrations by instructor Michele McDonald from 12:00-1:00 pm and Small Group Personal Training instructor, Bryan Parke, will be in the Fitness and Strength Training rooms to show how to use the equipment. Anyone attending the demonstrations or free sample classes will receive a coupon for 10% off the registration fee for classes offered at the Recreation Center.

In addition to facility upgrades, the Casper Recreation Division has improved online registration capabilities. At www.activecasper.com, interested participants may register for classes, buy memberships and rent parks within the city. New accounts may be created at any time at www.activecasper.com.
