The dream lives on, and Central Wyoming residents were paying tribute.

On Monday January 18th, about 100 area residents marched in downtown Casper, in honor of the late Doctor Martin Luther Jing Junior.

Jimmy Simmons is the president of the Casper branch of the NAACP.

He says en light of some skirmishes that have been going on with law enforcement in other communities across the country, steps have been taken to better deal with such instances, should they ever happen in Casper.

"We're working with the city, the Police Department, the Sheriff's Department, we've given a workshop to try to make the relationships between the citizens and the police department and Sheriff's Department, the youth and the Police Department and Sheriff's Department. We're trying to increase interacting with that, so we can make our community a little bit better and the city is on board with us and the Sheriff's Department is on board with us as well."

The Martin Luther King Junior Holiday is also observed as Wyoming Equality Day.
