Casper work crews will replace play structures in three city parks in the coming months, according to a news release Wednesday.

Tuesday, crews began removing the play structure in Conwell Park to excavate and prepare for the installation of new playground and picnic shelter.

They will later remove two older structures and replace them in Washington Park.

Crews also will install a new playground in Mike Sedar Park to replace the one that was removed during the construction of the new pool in 2015.
The playground in Conwell Park will feature play structures for children ages 2 to 5 and for children ages 5 to 12.

It will feature an expression swing that promotes intergenerational play as adults and children swing together. The face-to-face design features a bucket seat for children under 5 and an adult seat so an adult and child can see each other’s facial expressions while at play.
In Washington Park, the playground near the concrete picnic tables will be replaced with a new play structure for children ages 2 to 5. It also will feature an expression swing.

In the upper playground area, the older play structure will be replaced with one with climbing features and swings for children ages 5 to 12. The playground nearest the picnic shelter will remain.

In Mike Sedar Park, the play structure will feature slides, a climbing arch, and a zip line. The zip line will have a track with a disc seat and a track with a plastic bucket seat for children with mobility issues. The playground will be located west of the pool.

All four play structures will be installed by June 30. The $134,000 project is funded by the Optional One Cent Sales Tax from 2015. The tax provides funds for park improvement.

The contract for playground equipment and installation was awarded to Great Western Recreation.
