The Natrona County School District has confirmed that the Principal of Park Elementary School will step down at the end of the school year.

Dawn DeWald will finish out the year, according to District Spokesman Kelly Eastes, and move to a tutoring position next Fall.

DeWald became the center of a controversy when the parent of a Park student told the District Board that her daughter had been approached by a flasher near the school. She said that her information was that Ms. DeWald had been aware that he had been seen in the area, but issued no warning to parents.

The District investigated, and concluded that the information was incorrect, and Casper Police had not warned the Principal of the presence of any suspect in the area.

Nonetheless, DeWald will move on to the new position in the 2016-2017 school year.
