Casper College Instructor Wins Statewide Award

A Casper College instructor has been named the Community College Faculty Member of the Year for the state of Wyoming. Jared Bowden was named the winner of the prestigious award given by the Wyoming Association of Community College Trustees.
Bowden has worked at Casper College since August 2004 when he was hired as a physics instructor for the college.

Walter Nolte, president of Casper College said,

“Casper College is blessed to have many fine faculty members on our campus, though I can think of few more impressive than Jared. He works hard to promote science in the community. He works closely with our local elementary schools and supports numerous science initiatives in the community including Science Olympiad, the Lego Robotics competition and the Natrona County School District Science Fair.”

Bowden is a two-time monthly winner of the Casper College Phi Theta Kappa chapter’s Terrific Learning Coach award; received a National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence award in 2011; and last year was one of two instructors who won Casper College’s top faculty award, the Rosenthal Outstanding Educator Award, for the 2012-2013 school year. Bowden received two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in physics and the other in mathematics, from the University of Missouri, and his Master of Science degree in astronomy from the University of Minnesota.
