The weather forecast does not call for any severe weather this week, but emergency crews will be testing equipment for when it happens.

This week is severe weather awareness week across Wyoming.

The National Weather Service will be issuing a test tornado warning this Wednesday, April 20th, at 10:30am.

Also the Natrona County Emergency Management will be testing the Code-Red Alert System and the outdoor warning siren system, this Wednesday at noon.

Both tests are weather permitting.

Lieutenant Stewart Anderson with Natrona County Emergency Management, says this is normally the time of year when the weather shifts over from snow to severe thunderstorms and tornado activity.

"We're in a transition time of year for the weather, when we start getting more heating, etc...and warmer weather therefore, when get that moisture and those fronts come through they're more apt instead of the snow, once it starts heating up, we get more chances of a severe type of thunderstorm."

Lt. Anderson also advises residents to start preparing now for the severe weather season.

Citizens should have a 72-hour supply kit ready and make a family emergency plan.
