Cody Is One Of Wyoming’s Outstanding Places To Visit

Traveling around Wyoming, you're going to find some of the coolest, historic, and entertaining towns in every part of the state you go.

In the northwest part of the state, Cody, Wyoming is definitely the cream of the crop. The town of just over 10,000, is Wyoming's 11th biggest city. During the summer it's estimate that 300,000 to 400,000 people enter an exit the city limits.

With numbers like that, you have to have something for tourists, as well as locals, to do and Cody doesn't let you down.

From the second you enter the town, you're met with views of the Absaroka mountains, historic buildings, western wear shops, horses, wildlife, outdoor recreation, tours, museums, local restaurants, rodeos, and signs pointing to the nation's first National Park.

That's a lot of options and trust me, make sure you give yourself more than just a day or two to experience it all.

My visit to Cody wasn't my first rodeo, but it was the first time that I got to spend multiple days visiting. The problem, there aren't enough hours in the day to properly take in everything available in the town to do.

The Buffalo Bill Center of the West is one of the coolest places you'll ever see. If you've never heard anything about it, you're in for a heck of a surprise. You see 'Center of the West' on the sign, but really it should read

'Get ready to spend hours or days here learning about Buffalo Bill Cody and what makes the west so cool.'

Since I was young, I've loved history. Especially history of the west. Anytime I get to learn about one of the most influential figures in the history of the United States, I'm all about it.

When you're in Cody and the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, be prepared for  information overload. There are multiple museums under one roof, when I say multiple, I mean five. Yep, five extraordinary museums.

Buffalo Bill Museum

Not only will you learn things about Buffalo Bill Cody, like that he started working at a young age with the pony express, later became a soldier, was awarded the medal of honor, was a scout, hunter, showman, founder, rancher and visionary.

You'll see how impactful his life was and how influential he was to the world with his travelling 'Wild West Show'

Cody Firearms Museum

Thousands of firearms and interactive displays that will show you how firearms work, the history, uses and importance of the guns.

Draper Natural History Museum

You'll learn about every part of what makes Wyoming and Yellowstone so attractive to people from all over the world. The animals, attractions, geography and parts that make up the ecosystem around Yellowstone. Plus, there's a chance to catch the museums Raptor Experience.

Whitney Western Art Museum

If you love art, especially western art, you'll spend hours viewing artwork from some of the top western artists, from paintings to sculptures.

Plains Indian Museum

The history of the west isn't complete without the Native American artwork, artifacts, culture and history which are all highlighted and explained through a series of displays.

Can't forget the rodeo while in Cody

When you're in Cody you can't forget to check out the nightly rodeo. During the summer months, the rodeo happens 90 times. Yep, every night you can attend the Cody Nite Rodeo. For many of the people visiting Cody, they want to get the full on western experience. Cowboys and cowgirls showing off their rodeo skills is one of those experiences they'll never forget.

Of course there are great Wyoming restaurants all throughout the town. Like the Buffalo Bill's legendary "Irma Hotel & Restaurant".
