Cowboy football opens big this year with the Cowboy KICKOFF Concert and Pep Rally the night before the first game. Country music star Craig Morgan headlines the event, which is produced by Townsquare Media in cooperation with the University of Wyoming.

The Cowboy KICKOFF is Friday, August 29, at 7:45 p.m. in Tailgate Park on the UW campus. Craig Morgan, an established star whose hits include “That’s What I Love About Sunday,” “Redneck Yacht Club,” “Bonfire,” and “Wake up Lovin’ You,” will be the featured performer. Cowboy coaches will be on hand for the pep rally between concert acts, along with the Spirit Squad, Pistol Pete, and the t-shirt cannons.

The ‘Pokes host the University of Montana Grizzlies in War Memorial Stadium at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 30. This is the first time the UW football season has opened with a major entertainment event. According to William Evans, Director of Residence Life at UW, “We are excited to offer this concert to welcome back the students for the academic year and get the UW and surrounding communities ready for Cowboy sports! We are thrilled to have a partnership with Townsquare Media that enables us to coordinate an event of this size for the country music and sports fans in our area, and we look forward to making this a tradition for years to come for our community!”

Concert-goers are encouraged to bring small folding chairs or blankets for seating. No outside food or drink will be permitted, but concessions will be available on-site. Adult tickets are $25 in advance, $35 at the gate on the day of the show; students with ID are $10 in advance, $15 on the day of the show. Children under 12 are just $8. Advance tickets are available online at uwyo.edu/finearts. For more information contact: cowboykickoff@uwyo.edu , William J. Evans – (307) 766-6612.
