Hypothermia and frostbite will be very real threats in Casper Thursday night, even for folks who are outdoors for a short amount of time.

The National Weather Service in Riverton has posted an urgent wind chill warning, saying that wind chill values will be in the range of -30 F to -45 F Thursday night into Friday morning.

"Bitter cold wind chill temperatures will provide an extreme threat to people for hypothermia and frostbite with even short unprotected exposure outdoors," the warning reads.

Prolonged exposure in such conditions can lead to death, so if you must venture outside overnight, dress appropriately and do not leave any of your skin uncovered.

The wind chill warning will remain in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday.
