A domestic disturbance in a neighborhood east of campus forced Cheyenne East High School to go into a "soft lockdown" during the noon hour.

Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Sgt. David Janes says officers were called to a report of domestic violence in the 3300 block of Ridge Road shortly before 11 a.m.

"Officers determined the suspect to be 24-year-old Deion Davis," said Janes.  "Officers also determined Davis had four warrants out for his arrest."

When officers attempted to contact Davis at 3801 Grove Drive, he tried to flee the house and had to be tased.

"While officers were escorting the handcuffed Davis to the police car for transport to jail, Davis was able to pull away from officers and flee on foot," said Janes.

"At that point, we made sure all exterior, classroom and office doors were locked," said Laramie County School District 1 spokeswoman Mary Quast. "Teachers were told that they could continue teaching their classes, but not allow students out of the classroom."

Police were able to catch up with Davis in the 3900 block of Ridge Road and.  He was arrested for three failure to comply warrants, a failure to appear warrant, family violence and escape from official detention.

Janes says the lockdown lasted less than ten minutes and no one was injured during the incident.
