GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — A Gillette bus driver accused of slamming into a line of stopped cars in a construction zone last year — killing three people — has been sentenced to 30 days in jail.

Rhoda Steel was sentenced Wednesday under a plea agreement. She previously pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor vehicular homicide charges in the May 2014 crash. She initially faced charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, which carried lengthy prison sentences.

Steel was driving a bus when she struck the line of cars at a Highway 59 construction site near Gillette.

Killed in the crash were 37-year-old Colin Schultz, 55-year-old Charles Errington and 40-year-old Christopher Joubert.

Steel apologized to the victim's families in court Wednesday and asked for their forgiveness.
