A Casper man is accused of stabbing his son-in-law during an argument.

Casper Police arrested 45-year old Everett Hartshorn for aggravated assault.

Investigators say on Friday evening November 28th, Hartshorn and the victim, Tyson Peterson, who is his son-in-law, were having an argument outside of Eagle Bowl on North Durbin Street in Casper.

Hartshorn told officers that he and Peterson had been drinking earlier.

The report says, Peterson later put a knife on his (Hartshorn's) throat and Hartshorn responded with his own knife and stabbed him in the abdomen. But Hartshorn claims he was trying to wrap his arms around the victim's shoulders to calm him down.

Witnesses told investigators that Hartshorn lunged at Peterson.

An aggravated assault charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

He was also arrested for a probation revocation, on an unrelated matter.

At his initial hearing Wednesday, he was only charged for the parole violation, and given one-year in jail with all but 15 days of that suspended.

The initial hearing on the assault charge will come later.
