CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — More experienced firefighters will be taking over the fight against a wildfire burning near Seminoe Reservoir in Carbon County.

The fire has burned an estimated 3,100 acres and is about a mile north of Seminoe Dam. However, Seminoe State Park is not threatened.

About 170 firefighters have managed to contain about 22 percent of the fire. It was started by lightning and was first reported on Saturday. No structures in the area have burned.

State Forester Bill Crapser reports that there was heavy initial attack on new fires in northeast Wyoming and Platte county.

Crook Weston, Campbell and Niobrara counties all are battling fires.

There was some good news. The Sawmill Canyon Fire near Glendo State Park has been contained.
