UNDATED (AP) — History has been made in the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

Florida Gulf Coast has become the first No. 15 seed to make it to the Sweet 16, doing so with an 81-71 win over No. 7 San Diego State. Bernard Thompson scored 23 points and Sherwood Brown added 17 for the Eagles, who are in just their second season of eligibility for postseason play.

Brown scored eight of the first 10 points in a 17-0 run that put FGCU ahead 71-52 with 4:19 remaining.

The outcome sets up an all-Florida game in the South Region semifinals, with the Eagles taking on third seed Florida.

Third seed Florida built a 21-point halftime lead and whipped Minnesota 78-64 to reach the South Region semifinals in Dallas against either San Diego State of Florida Gulf Coast.

Mike Rosario scored 25 points for the Gators, who shot 65 percent in the first half to take a 48-27 lead.

Miami is the third Florida team to reach the Sweet 16 after Rion Brown hit five three-pointers and finished with 21 points in the Hurricanes' 63-59 win over Illinois in the East Region. Shane Larkin added 17 points, including a go-ahead three-pointer with a minute left.

No. 13 La Salle continued its unexpected run by beating No. 12 Mississippi 76-74 on Tyrone Garland's layup with two seconds left. Ramon Galloway had 24 points for the Explorers, who were playing its third game in five days as they reached the Round of 16 for the first time since playing for the 1955 national championship.

Next up for La Salle is No. 9 Witchia State in the West regional semifinals in Los Angeles.

Jeff Withey had 16 points and 16 rebounds as No. 1 Kansas downed Roy Williams and North Carolina 70-58. Travis Releford added 22 points and helped Kansas storm back from a 30-21 halftime deficit.

K-U will take on Michigan in the South Region semifinals.

Top seed Indiana staved off a challenge by closing on a 10-0 run to beat No. 9 seed Temple 58-52 in an East Region game in Dayton, Ohio. Victor Olapido (oh-lah-PEE'-dohz) 3-pointer with 13 seconds left was the final nail in the Owls' coffin. He finished with a team-high 16 points and teammate Cody Zeller had 15.

Indiana earned a date with fourth-seeded Syracuse in the regional semifinals on Thursday in Washington.

No. 2 Ohio State earned a school-record fourth straight trip to the round of 16 in Dayton. Aaron Craft's swished a 3-pointer from the top of the key with 0.5 seconds on the clock to lift the Buckeyes past No. 10 Iowa State 78-75 in a West Regional game. Craft finished with 18 points and DeShaun Thomas added 22 as Ohio State earned the right to play sixth seed Arizona on Thursday in Los Angeles.

Second seed Duke capped Sunday's third-round action by whipping Creighton 66-50. Rasheed Sulaimon paced the Blue Devils with 21 points and Seth Curry had 17 as Duke earned a meeting with Michigan State on Friday.
