George Strait Working on Songs for New Album
George Strait may be retiring from the road, but that doesn't mean he's giving up his career in music. In a new interview, the 60-year-old entertainer reveals that he is already working on music for a new album.
Strait announced his decision to retire from active touring in September, but he'll perform a full schedule of dates in 2013 and 2014 before he officially says goodbye to the road. In the meantime he's got a new single out titled 'Give It All We Got Tonight,' and as he tells Nashville.com, he still intends to record a new album every year.
“I’m feeling a little antsy about getting back in the studio. I’ve got some great material already,” he shares. “I’m working on some songs and some original stuff too. I’ve been doing a little bit of writing, but I need to do a little more."
Strait adds that he has set aside some time to work with Dean Dillon, one of the top songwriters in Nashville whose previous Strait cuts include 'The Chair,' 'Ocean Front Property' and 'It's a Little Too Late.' He also hopes to write some more with his son, Bubba, who has contributed to his albums in the past.
