Years of planning and fundraising will culminate Wednesday evening with the grand opening of David Street Station in downtown Casper.

The Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors will host the celebration at 5:30 p.m., ahead of the upcoming Wyoming Eclipse Festival.

Longtime radio personality Bob Price will lead the festivities. Brandon Daigle, chairman of the Downtown Development Authority Board, will speak before Casper Mayor Kenyne Humphrey makes an official proclamation and introduces Governor Matt Mead, who will outline the project's positive impact on the community.

The space will then formally and officially be opened to the public with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

Afterward, Price will dedicate the stage to honor Brian Scott Gamroth, who hosted the K2 Radio Morning Show for some 23 years before passing away last year. Brian's son, Kyle, is expected to say a few words on behalf of the Gamroth family.

Donors and project team members will be welcomed at a private reception at the Lyric, featuring Secretary of State Ed Murray.

The first phase of David Street Station is set to be finished by Wednesday. It will feature a large performance stage, synthetic turf lawn and integrated vendor areas. Festivals, concerts, markets, outdoor movies, classes and other community events will be hosted in the space.

Phase Two, set to open in the spring, will feature a splash pad, an ice skating rink and a maintenance building which will include restrooms as well as an observation deck overlooking the performance stage.

David Street Station is just five percent, or $450,000, shy of full funding. Donations of any size are welcome.

The public is encouraged to attend Wednesday's grand opening, an explore the newest public space in downtown Casper.
