Haunted Brooms Sweeping the Nation [PHOTOS]

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a......haunted broom?  You might have already been a victim to this witch like ghostly prank.  If you are friends with me on Facebook, chances are that you have became my victim.  All I have to say is I GOT YOU!!!

What I'm talking about is a broom standing up all by it's self.  No paranormal activity (dangit, that would have been cool), no spiderwebs (that is what I thought it might have been when a friend of mine played the trick on me), and no sticky beer left on the kitchen floor (which most of my friends assumed) .  It's actually easy to explain why the broom can stand up unassisted on it's bristles.  It has nothing to do with the alignment of the planets, which most think.  It also has nothing to do with the gravitational pull of the moon.  If it was that, then we would be floating like little fish above water.  The broom can stand by itself because the center of gravity is directly above the edge on which it balances.  The bristles of the broom are soft enough to spread out a bit at the contact point with the floor and provide a stable base to support the handle and allow the broom to balance.  This can also be done with other things as long as they have something light that can spread enough to hold the object up.

So, now that the cat is out of the bag you can all rest easy that my house, and millions others across the world, are not haunted.  It all has to do with science. Isn't science awesome!?!?!?!
