Wind gusts of up to 65 miles per hour are expected Wednesday, as the National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for the lower elevations of Natrona County and parts of Sweetwater County. NWS meteorologists say the winds will move over portions of the central and southern mountains, basins and foothills during the day ahead of a winter weather system. The high wind warning is in effect until 9:00 Wednesday evening.

Winds will be west to southwest at 20 to 40 m.p.h. with gusts 55 to 65 m.p.h. across the lower elevations of central and southern Wyoming. A remote weather station in the Green Mountains near Muddy Gap reported wind gusts as high as 84 mph Tuesday evening.

Strong crosswinds will pose a risk to high profile lightweight vehicles as well as weakened or dead trees.This High Wind Warning includes the cities of Casper, Jeffrey City, and Wamsutter.
