Downed power lines complicated the battle against an early morning structure fire that's now under investigation in Casper. According to Casper Fire-EMS, they were called out to the fire at 5:15 a.m. Friday morning and when crews arrived, they found a garage fully involved in the 1400 block of South Jackson.

Firefighters made an exterior attack, and worked to be sure the fire didn't spread to nearby buildings.  Downed, arcing power lines hampered efforts to gain full access and put the fire out, but once electric was secured by Rocky Mountain Power they were able to fully extinguish the blaze.

Officials say the building wasn't occupied, and no injuries were reported. The garage was used primarily to store construction materials, and all the contents and the structure are a complete loss.  Power to the residence was also damaged and will have to be repaired to restore service. The value of the loss is not known at this time.

The cause of the fire isn't known yet but Casper Fire-EMS personnel and Casper Police stayed on the scene Friday morning to investigate.

Officials are asking residents stay alert to unusual activities in your neighborhoods and if something or someone looks out of place or suspicious, to report it immediately. If anyone has any information about this, or any other fire, please contact Casper Fire-EMS at 235-8222 or 235-8278.
