CASA of Natrona County is a caring non-profit organization that speaks for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the juvenile court system. CASA recruits, trains and supports volunteers, drawn from a diverse population, to provide this service. At this year's Red Wagon Event the crowd will celebrate CASA's commitment to "pull for kids" and raise awareness of their mission. CASA has been advocating for abused and neglected children in Natrona County for 10 years. The crowd will hear from advocates, kids and supporters to get a better understanding of just how CASA has impacted their lives and why the mission is so important to the Casper community.

As a special treat, Nashville recording artist and National CASA spokesperson, Jimmy Wayne will be on hand to tell his story and to perform. Jimmy is a fellow that has been through the system. By the time he was 14, he had been in and out of the foster care system and attended 12 different schools in two years. His mother was in prison, and he had only his older sister, Patricia. It was not an easy life for a bright and gifted child. When he was 15 years old, he found himself in juvenile detention for running away from a group home. At 16, he was still surviving by his wits, and living on the streets, until one fateful day when he met Bea and Russell Costner. The older couple (they were in their 70s when they met Jimmy) gave him a home, the ability to complete his education, encouragement and most of all, stability and love. Jimmy joined us this morning to tell his story and to sing one of his hits "Sara Smile"

Tickets for the event are still available at the CASA office, Cadillac Cowgirl or at the door.
