Julie Roberts has released a new tune that is extra special to the South Carolina native. Robert, a University of South Carolina alum, dedicates her song ‘Sweet Carolina’ to her Alma Mater as part of the college’s Carolina Promise campaign.

Roberts wrote the song for the campaign, designed as a “commitment — or promise — to students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and the communities we serve that we will continue to lead the way to improve the quality of life for all in our state and world.”

“I went to the University of South Carolina-Lancaster my first two years of college and received an amazing education and strong foundation for the rest of my life,” Roberts says. “I was raised a Gamecock fan and most of my family are graduates from the University of South Carolina.”

She continues, “Writing this song for the University felt like something I was supposed to do. The University has given my family so much, and I wanted to help this campaign in a way that I could, so I wrote and recorded ‘Sweet Carolina.’ It was fun thinking about the University, the students, the Gamecock fans, the alumni, the sporting events, and everything that makes me proud to call Carolina my home!”

Fans can download a digital copy of ‘Sweet Carolina’ through iTunes or CD Baby. The tune is being released in three forms: the original song, an acoustic mix and an instrumental version. Portions of the proceeds raised through sales of ‘Sweet Carolina’ will be donated to Roberts’ charity of choice, the Make-a-Wish Foundation. The songstress will be releasing a music video for the song in the coming weeks.
