Though it was rumored months ago, Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder have officially confirmed today that their new Superman flick 'Man of Steel' will most definitely be hitting theaters next summer in 3D.

Coming Soon has a report directly from Warner Bros. that confirms what's been rumored and suspected for some time now: 'Man of Steel' will be post-converted to 3D before it hits theaters on June 14, 2013. For those who appreciate their cinema without the added dimensional "enhancement," you can still check out the latest Superman adventure in 2D and IMAX.

Director Zack Snyder explains his approach to filming 'Man of Steel' in a way that appeals to both the 2D and 3D experience:

“The film is going to be a visually exciting experience in all formats: 2D, 3D and IMAX. Anticipating how audiences today embrace 3D, we designed and photographed the movie in a way that would allow ‘Man of Steel’ to captivate those movie goers, while respecting fans who prefer a more traditional cinematic experience. We’ve taken great measures to ensure the film and the story come first, and 3D is meant as an enhancement.”

Now normally we might cast some doubt but with Chris Nolan executive producing and the vibe we got from those early teasers, we're feeling pretty good. Sure, Zack Snyder gave us the overwrought and ambitiously bloated 'Sucker Punch,' but he also gave us 'Watchmen,' which proved he's got a knack for directing comic book adaptations. We're giving him the benefit on the doubt for 'Man of Steel,' for sure.

The film puts Henry Cavill in the Superman/Clark Kent role alongside Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, and Russell Crowe. With or without the 3D, 'Man of Steel' is still something to be excited about.
