Contrary to what some lawn enthusiasts believe, mulch mowing is actually better for your lawn than bag mowing.

What I love most about mulch mowing is that it takes less time to mow your lawn. You might need to mow more often, say every five days as opposed to every seven, but it’s a small price to pay for a naturally healthier lawn that requires less care.

If you're throwing away grass clippings your wasting your lawns natural fertilizer.  Grass clippings contain valuable nitrogen that naturally feeds a lawn or provides great nutrients in compost.   Mulch mowing is so great, a recent survey found that over half of city residents already mulch mow.

How to Mulch Mow

Mow your grass to 2-3” in height and only remove about 1/3 of the blade height. This may mean you will be mulch mowing every five days. Mulching is the best way to dispose of grass clippings.  Mowing higher also helps protect the roots from heat, making your lawn more drought tolerant - meaning you can water less.
