Last year the NCHS Mustangs came so close to a state title they could taste it. Coaches, Seniors, Sophmores, Juniors all played thier hearts out only to fall short by just a few points. This season the Mustangs are making a statement all over the football field state wide. This team is unique. Special. Dominate. I can only imagine what it's like in the locker room for the kids, and in the office's for the coaches. This is the season that some only talk about. This is the season that will live on in the memories of Coach Harshman and his coaches and in the memories of young athletes as they look back on something that no one can take from them. Forever. Tonight the NCHS Mustangs made a statement to the rest of the 4A football elite in Wyoming. "We are for reall." The Natrona County football team emphatically clinched the No. 1 overall seed in the Class 4A playoffs with its 24-0 victory on Friday over Sheridan. Friday's shutout was Natrona's third in a row, and it hasn't allowed points for 13 consecutive quarters, last giving up a touchdown in the third quarter of its 48-6 victory over Evanston on Sept. 26. Natrona County (8-0) was led by touchdowns in the first and second quarter by senior running back Stevann Brown, and the Mustangs' veteran defense limited Sheridan's running game -- ranked second in Class 4A entering the game with 221.3 yards on the ground per contest -- to under 100 yards.
