My Country Cares For St Judes Radiothon Is Gearing Up [VIDEO]

A number of years ago I was given the unique opportunity to travel to Memphis and spend a little time at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and see the amazing things that they do for the patients and their families. The Mission of St Judes has not changed over the course of its 50 years. It is,

….to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.

Now in order for the kids to receive the treatment that they do and for the families to receive the assistance that is given, a lot of money is raised in any number of ways. One of those ways is thru a radiothon, and My Country is proud to be a part of this fundraising once again. This is no small project to be involved with and wouldn’t be possible without the help of a number of your favorite country stars that have embraced the St Jude organization and help radio stations like ours share the stories of the hospital and the families through word and song.

When I traveled to Memphis, I had the opportunity to spend some time with folks like Trick Pony, Brad Paisley, Mark Mcquinn and others to share these stories. One young fellow still sticks in my mind as he was just getting started in his music career and was a rather quiet and shy guy hanging on the periphery. From those early days he has come a long way and continues to give time and money to the hospital and gives his support to the radio stations that join in the effort. That fellow was Keith Urban.

Keith continues to support St Jude and joins us in asking you to do the same. St. Jude is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility. Discoveries made here have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. With research and patient care under one roof, St. Jude is where some of today’s most gifted researchers are able to do science more quickly.
