The Natrona County Fire Protection District is looking at a bleak budget picture.

That is the gist of a suprise press release from chief Bob Fawcett. Possible service reduction, layoffs and even firehouse closures are among the things he says we may have to resort to given the reduced funds.

Here is the entire statement...

Like many other agencies in our community the Natrona County Fire Protection District has experienced a significant shortfall in our revenue. The fire district receives the majority of its funding from a mill levy for property taxes collected in unincorporated areas of Natrona County.

With the decrease in revenue the fire district will be implementing dramatic cuts to our operational budget. There is a great potential for this to have a negative impact on the services we provide to the citizens of Natrona County. Possible cuts may include fire fighter layoffs, reduced staffing, pay cuts and/or closure of fire station #13. We will continue to provide the very best service possible within the confines of our current financial situation.
