The Natrona County School District is nearing the end of its five year strategic plan set in 2009. The NCSD Board of Trustees is working with district leadership to thoughtfully craft a new vision for the next several years. The current strategic plan will sunset on June 30, 2014. Parents, students, and employees will have an opportunity to be involved in the process as new goals are set.

With the mission statement as its guiding principal, the current plan is made up of five specific goals. The mission statement says

“The Natrona County School District empowers every learner to grow, excel and be successful contributors to the local/global community.”

Goal 1: All NCSD students will read at grade level by the end of the third grade.
Goal 2: NCSD will perform within the top 10 percent in Wyoming on state assessments.
Goal 3: All NCSD students will graduate and be prepared for college or a high-skills career.
Goal 4: NCSD will maintain environments that are physically and mentally safe and healthy for everyone.
Goal 5: The Natrona County School District will be efficient and effective in its operations and classrooms.

The 2009-2014 strategic plan was developed by a group of stakeholders that included representatives from employee groups, parents, community members, and students. The plan was in response to the Fall 2008 organizational assessment of the district, which found, among other things, that employees felt a need for a common vision and set of priorities to drive work forward.

In addition to the goals, the plan set a clear definition of the values of the district, as well as a path for student improvement.

Adoption of a new strategic plan is expected by the start of the 2014-15 school year. To get involved contact your school or NCSD.
