UPDATE (3:54 p.m.):

Multiple people are dead as a result of a Tuesday afternoon crash on Highway 120, some 26 miles south of Meeteetse.

Cody Beers, public information specialist for WYDOT, says no one survived the two-vehicle crash. Beers could not confirm the number of people who perished.

Photos posted by Beers on Facebook show that a pickup and what was apparently a commercial vehicle evidently collided in a head-on manner, with both vehicles burning after the collision.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol continues to investigate. Meanwhile, the highway was expected to remain closed until roughly 6:45 p.m.

Original Story:

A segment of a Wyoming highway was closed Tuesday following a motor vehicle crash.

Highway 120 between Thermopolis and Meeteetse was closed in both directions Tuesday afternoon. As of roughly 1:30 p.m., the roadway was projected to remain closed for six to eight hours as the Wyoming Highway Patrol investigates the crash.

Trooper Meyers says the crash involved two vehicles, with one or possibly both of those vehicles being engulfed in flames. Further details were not immediately available.

While the roadway remains closed, southbound traffic is being detoured via WY 431. Drivers should expect delays.

WYDOT reminds travelers that parking on the roadway is prohibited and delays crews who are trying open the road.
