The cross country season kicked off over the weekend and one of the big meets was the Kelly Walsh/Beartrap Invitational on Casper Mountain. It was a challenging course and on the girls' side, Kayley Alicke of Sheridan in 19.59.74. She placed 8th at last year's 4A State Meet, Natrona's Ally Wheeler took 2nd in 20.09.63 and Ameya Eddy of Lander who is the 3A defending state champion was 3rd in 20.18.05. Laramie's Lainey Berryhill was 4th and her teammate Claire Arens was 5th.

In the girls' teams standings, Laramie was 1st with 40 points, Sheridan 2nd with 57, Natrona took 3rd with 58 with Kelly Walsh 4th and Thunder Basin 5th.

For the boys, the individual medalist was Kaden Chatfield of Riverton in 16.47.33 and he placed 9th at last year's 3A State Meet. In 2nd place was Landrum Wiley of Sheridan in 16.53.69 and Laramie's Dominic Eberle was 3rd in 16.59.70. Gideon Moore of Laramie too 4th with Alexander Truax of Riverton 5th.

Laramie took the podium in the team standings with 57 points, Kelly Walsh 2nd with 100, Natrona 3rd with 11 with Sheridan 4th and Thunder Basin 4th.
