A funeral procession Tuesday from a church to the Casper Events Center will follow a private service for the late businessman and philanthropist Mick McMurry, Casper Police Capt. Steve Freel said Monday.

Those who want to participate in the procession need to be lined up at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 400 Country club Road, by 1 p.m. Tuesday, Freel said.

The procession will offer mourners who cannot attend the celebration of McMurry's life at 2 p.m. at the Casper Events Center the opportunity to pay their respects as the vehicles pass by, he said.

Those who need to travel across town also need to know they need to find an alternate routes besides the main east-west arteries, Freel said.

The procession will follow this route: north on Country Club to East Fourth Street; west on East Fourth Street to South Wilson Street; north on South Wilson Street to East Second Street; west on East Second Street to South David Street; north on South David Street to East First Street; west on East First Street to South Poplar Street; and north on South Poplar Street to the Casper Events Center.

The procession will include the hearse, family members, friends driving McMurry's collection of Corvettes and other cars, law enforcement, and others who wish to pay their respects.

McMurry was found at his residence on Newport Street on March 10. The Natrona County Coroner said the cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound and the manner of death was suicide.

For those who cannot attend the gathering at the Events Center, the service will be streamed live.
