Ron Hoffman seems like a normal guy. But don't let him fool you. The Pumpkin King of the Cowboy State is completely out of his gourd.

Last year, the Riverton resident, who works for the Wyoming Department of Transportation, reclaimed his state record with a massive 1322-pound pumpkin. During the last decade, Hoffman has grown seven of the ten largest pumpkins in Wyoming history.

At the annual Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Worland this month, Hoffman produced the second-largest pumpkin ever grown in Wyoming, which tipped the scales at 1300 pounds on the nose.

Hoffman is one of several pumpkin farmers across the Cowboy State. Jay's Giants in Worland hosts the Pumpkin Weigh-Off. Cheyenne resident and former state record holder Andy Corbin documents his crop on the website PumpkinFantatic.com and often shares seeds with Hoffman.
