Shania Twain Gets Married in Puerto Rico

Despite having announced their engagement only weeks ago, Shania Twain and Frederic Thiebaud were married in Puerto Rico on New Year’s Day!

Forty friends and family attended the ceremony, which took place in Rincon, on the western coast of the island at sunset, according to CMT.

The wedding was first announced to PEOPLE on Jan. 1, 2011.

Although Twain is now happily in love with Frederic, she first had to get through an emotionally draining divorce with record producer Robert “Mutt” Lange. Twain and Lange were married for 14 years until he had an affair with her former best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud. Marie-Anne was previously married to Frederic.
