Should Wyoming Get Rid Of Daylight Saving Time? [POLL]
Daylight Saving Time was first used in the United States during World War I and has been used at various times over the years before settling in as the “law of the land” during the energy crisis in the 1970’s. Since that time the pros and cons of DST have been debated ad nauseam. Does it save energy? Does it increase retail sales? Does it affect the average persons circadian rhythm? All good questions, but no definitive answers.
The Wyoming legislature will take a look at this issue this year on HB00068 introduced by Rep Dan Laursen R-Powell. There is not a lot of substance to the bill as you can see HERE. The bill does call for implementation January 2017 and because this is a budget session the bill would have to pass by 2/3 majority vote.
So the question is, what do you think? Oklahoma and a number of other states are looking at this same issue. Is now the time for Wyoming to join Arizona and Hawaii in getting rid of DST? Or should it be left alone?
