The new Paramount Network has jumped on the new tv series, “Yellowstone,” from writer-director Taylor Sheridan. There are already signs "Yellowstone" will be a hit.

The largest U.S. ranch borders Yellowstone National Park - owned by the fictional Dutton family - patriarch, John Dutton, will be played by Kevin Costner. Yes, that would be the movie star who never did a television series in his life. We'll assume this means he must really believe in this one.

“Yellowstone” is the first original series ordered since the announcement of cable channel Spike re-branding as Paramount Network. The 10-episode first season of “Yellowstone” will go into production in fall and premiere in summer, 2018.

Keith Cox, Paramount Network President seems to believe the show will make a statement for the network, “What we buy for our first drama is critical.” Taylor Sheridan is one of the most sought after feature writers today. “Wind River” is his last of a trilogy of feature films after “Hell or High Water” and “Sicario.”

An original Texan, Sheridan married a Cowgirl years ago, and became a resident of Wyoming then. That also explains a little something, doesn't it?

How could any of us from Wyoming not wish "Yellowstone" to be a huge hit.
