Travel across Wyoming will likely be difficult late Wednesday through Saturday as two Arctic cold fronts bring snow and ice to roads across the state.

K2 Radio Meteorologist Don Day of Dayweather, Inc. says travel impact will be high. The second of the two cold fronts could bring snow Friday into early Saturday, and "severe cold" will likely persist through the weekend into early next week.

"Make sure you're prepared for the severe cold before traveling," Day says. "Icy roads and highways will be commonplace statewide and region-wide from late Wednesday night and into the weekend."

All three Wyoming interstates -- I-25, I-80 and I-90 -- will see significant travel impact due to snow, icy conditions, severe cold and limited visibility.

Late Wednesday night, near midnight, snow will have broken out in the far western and northwestern areas of Wyoming. After midnight, snow will spread across the northern half of the state, which of course includes the I-90 corridor.

By 12 a.m. Thursday, Days says snow will have extended south through the Wind River Basin and the Casper area, while another area of snow develops along I-80 from the Utah State Line to near Elk Mountain.

By sunrise Thursday, all three interstates should have snow. The whole state will likely see snowy, icy conditions as well as "sharply colder temperatures" and wind chills during the day Thursday.

Day says a second system will bring snow north to south by late Thursday into Friday morning for the northwest corner including Alpine, Thermopolis, Ten Sleep, Sheridan and Buffalo. By Friday afternoon, snow will have reached the Colorado border.

Day's forecast is valid through 6 p.m. Thursday.
