The State of Wyoming just celebrated it's 124th birthday being accepted into the union on July 10th, 1890. That birthday reminded me of a song I heard many years ago by John Denver call Song of Wyoming. It was written by Kent Lewis and made famous by others. It is a bit of a western lullaby and a song that translates well to thoughts of Wyoming,

Well I've wandered around the town and the city, tried to figure the how and the why.
I stopped all my scheming, I'm just drifting and dreaming, watching the river roll by.
Here comes that big old prairie moon rising, shining down bright as can be.
Up on the hill there's a coyote singing a song of Wyoming for me.

The reason I bring it up is that I had mentioned it in passing to a coworker and she was aghast that I would even consider the John Denver version better than the Chris Ledoux version. Now I hadn't even thought of that or even considered one better than the other I guess at my age I had just heard the Denver version first and it stuck.

But it did bring up the question and now I have to have the answer. Which do you prefer? John Denver or Chris Ledoux? Here are both for your listening pleasure and you can answer the poll at the bottom of the page.

Here is the John Denver version,

And here is Chris Ledoux,
