You may know St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was founded with the specific goal of curing cancer in children, but there’s probably a whole lot more about it you don’t know.

In the past years many listeners of My Country 95.5 have been part of the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids project. St. Jude was started by the late entertainer, Danny Thomas, and focuses on the research and treatment of young people with cancer and other serious childhood diseases.

Meet Peter,  a brave two-year-old boy who was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  Peter was diagnosed just before his 2nd birthday.  His parents feared that he would not see his 3rd birthday.  Thanks to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital he is on his way to a full recovery.

The mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Founder Danny Thomas believed that "No child should die in the dawn of life", and we echo that sentiment even louder today.

Over the years, many people in the public eye—including actors, NASCAR drivers, musicians, political leaders, supermodels and more—have gotten involved with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Fifty years ago, Danny Thomas founded the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in the hopes of curing children's cancer and other deadly diseases. Danny wanted to open a hospital where children would be cared for regardless of race, religion or creed.  A hospital where families would never receive a bill for their child's treatment.

Thankful Thursdays are going strong as we continue to build support for a multitude of charities. This week we are raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - helping children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases, regardless of their ability to pay.

Coming into this week’s episode, John Rich was one of the last five men standing on ‘Celebrity Apprentice.’ He was also coming off of a week as project manager, and while Team Backbone didn’t win, yet they still raised millions for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and demonstrates a keen understanding for playing Celebrity Apprentice.
